The second annual Undergraduate Research Symposium at the Life Sciences Department, Salish Kootenai College will be held August 1-2 in the summer of 2020. Oral presentations will be given by undergraduate students and their mentors. Poster presentations will be given by undergraduate researchers on their work in their respective laboratories. Presenters are expected from multiple undergraduate research institutions including Montana State University, the University of Montana, the University of Washington and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. If you would like to represent your University please submit an abstract for either an oral or poster presentation. Please follow this link to submit an abstract.
Awards will be presented to the top two posters and the top oral presentation given by undergraduate students. Last year’s winner, Kyle Montgomery, from Flathead Valley Community College, Kalispell presented on “the Cytotoxicity Testing of Lichen and Byrophyte Extracts.” Please see the link to read last year’s abstract book.

In addition to the poster and oral presentations, the symposium event will encompass two days and will host local science vendors throughout the Flathead Valley. The vendors will represent biotech companies in the Flathead. Activities throughout the Flathead valley will be offered to attendees including white water rafting on the Flathead River, Kayaking on Flathead Lake, the Bison Range Tour and Cultural activities at SKC.
